Comments: Frederick and his family lived in Middlesex, England before moving to Ontario, Canada in 1887, were he met Theresa. In 1900, they moved to Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio. Frederick worked as a Great Lakes ore freighter captain for the Pittsburgh Steamship Company, a division of the United States Steel Corporation. He captained the "Maricopa" in 1919, the "William Edenborn" in 1926, and the "J.P. Morgan Jr." in 1931. He registered for the draft on September 9, 1918 in Cleveland. He was of medium height and build and had brown eyes and black hair.

"On the 30th of November, in St. Joseph County, Ind., of palsy, Sister Elizabeth, consort of Levi Longenecker, aged 59 years, 3 months and 8 days. A kind husband and family with many friends and relatives followed her remains to the grave on the 1st of December, when a funeral address was delivered by the writer from Phil. 1: 21. She endured her suffering with Christian fortitude and resignation to her Heavenly Father's will. She manifested not only a willingness, but an earnest desire to go to her blessed Savior whom she acknowedged(sic) to be her "best friend." He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, the former May Belle Spangler; a son, Lewis; a daughter, Mildred; two brothers and three sisters. Surviving are his widow, the former Blanche Spangler; three children, Mrs. Mary Barnett, Johnstown; Willard J., Central City R.D. 1; and Mrs. John Phillips, Jenners; also six grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Sophie Paul, Shanksville; and Mrs. Sara Kimmel, State College. He was a retired farmer and a member of Shanksville United Methodist Church. Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon in his church with Rev. Marlin Miller officiating. Interment in Walker Cemetery, Shanksville."
