"John Uphouse - A few hours following the burial of his wife, Mrs. Susan Uphouse, John Uphouse, well-known farmer of Milford township, Somerset county, near Rockwood, died Monday night at his home following a three week illness of influenza. Mrs. Uphouse died last Friday of pneumonia. Mr. Uphouse is survived by six children; his father, Hiram Uphouse of Milford tounship; two brothers, Dr. A.M. Uphouse of Stoyestown and Edward Uphouse of Iwoa, and one sister, Mrs. John Lavan of Somerset, R.D."

"Charles Sheldon Uphouse, 85, Suffield, Ohio, died Sept. 27, 1994. Born in Somerset County. Preceded in death by a daughter, Hazel Rininger, and a son Charles Robert Uphouse. He is survived by his wife, Pearl (Conn) Uphouse; a daughter Tillie (Bud) Cremeans of Safford, Ariz.; Shirley (Conrad) Jack of Suffield, Ohio, and grandsons: Charles, (Linda) Cremeans, Terry (Debbie) Jack, Tim (Marie) Jack, Robert (Gayle) Rininger, Randy (Celeste) Rininger and William (LaChelle) Rininger. Also 12 great-grandchildren and one brother, Warren Uphouse of Florida. He was a retired employee of Akron University with 20 years service. Member of Suffield Fellowship Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Rev. John Buchko officiating. Interment, Middlecreek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer society."

"Woodrow (Woody) Uphouse, 64, of Somerset RD 7, died August 27, 1977, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born June 2, 1913, in Middlecreek Township, he was the son of the late John F. and Susan (Peck) Uphouse. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter in infancy, and a sister, Iva. He is survived by his wife, the former Rosalie Grove, and the following children: John F., Berlin; Mrs. Deanna Barndt and Mrs. Mary Jane Baer, Friedens RD 2; Mrs. Beverly Sleasman, Somerset RD 4; Robert, Columbus, Ohio; James, Columbia, Md.; Mrs. Bonita Morelli, Somerset; and Don and Jay, at home; and 22 grandchildren. He was a brother of Charles Sheldon, Mogadora, Ohio; Hirem, Findleyville; Albert E., Akron, Ohio; and Earl Warren, Altamonte Springs, Fla. He was a member of the Middlecreek Church of the Brethren, F.O.E. of Somerset, Tall Pines Hunting Camp, and he was a retired Somerset businessmen. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home with Rev. Theodore Cole officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park."

"Hiram W. Uphouse, 77, of Finleyville R.D. 1 died Thursday, August 17, 1989, in his home. He was born March 22, 1912, in Middle Creek Township, a son of the late John and Susan Peck Uphouse. He was retired from the Dick Corporation, and was a member of Henry M. Phillips Lodge 337 F&AM, Monongahela. Syrian Temple, Pittsburgh and the Loyal Order of Moose, Finleyville Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Woodrow Uphouse, and one sister, Iva Cornell. Survivors include his wife, Mae Sleasman Uphouse; one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Dolores) Smith of Finleyville R.D. 1; one granddaughter, Shawna Yost; and three brothers, Charles of Megadore, Ohio, ellsworth of Akron, Ohio and Warren of Florida. Friends will be received Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the L.M. Frye Funeral Home, 427 West Main St., Monongahela."
