On Nov. 27, 1924, he was married to Laura Kifper, who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons (Willard J., Ronald D. and Dennis D.), one daughter (Shirley - Mrs. Dewayne Jantz), 9 granchildren, 3 sister (Mary - Mrs Dan Swartzendruber, Annie - Mrs. Ed Albrecht, and Barbara - Mrs. Henry Esch), and 5 brothers (Earl, Richard, Joe, Ed, and Henry Maust). He was preceded in death by 2 sister and one brother. In 1933 he was ordained to the ministry and served the Pigeon Mennonite Church, Pigeon, Mich., and the Seventh Street Mennonite Church, Upland, Calif. In 1947 he was ordained to the office of bishop. He was a member of the Seventh Street Mennonite Church, where funeral services were held on Dec. 9, in charge of Roger L. Richer, Donald Yoder, Donald King, and Stanley Weaver; interment in the Bellevue Mausoleum, Ontario, Calif."

"Maust. - Menno, son of Joseph and Lydia Maust, was born at Myersdale, Pa., March 10, 1894; died Nov. 22, 1922, at the Toledo Hospital, Toleda, O., while he was undergoing an operation, at the age of 28 y. 8 m. 12 d. On Oct. 30, 1919, he was united in marriage to sister Cora Nofzinger. This union was blest with one son. He leaves to mourn his early death a deeply sorrowing companion, 1 son, Walter, parents, 6 brothers, 4 sisters, together with a large host of relatives and friends. He early this spring began to feel his ailment which gradually became worse and all that medical skill could do did not seem to avail anything. He was advised by the home doctors to go to a specialist for an examination, who said an operation was the only thing that might help, but this proved fatal. Bro. Menno accepted Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 15 and united with the Amish Mennonite Church and kept his faith unto the end. Funeral services were held Nov. 25 at the Central A. M. Church near Archbold, O., conducted by M. S. Zehr of Pigeon, Mich., and Henry Rychener and S. D. Grieger of the home congregation. Interment in Eckley cemetery."

"Maust. --- Norman S., oldest son of the late Simon L. and Savilla (Folk) Maust, was born Sept. 8, 1879, in Springs, Pa.; died at his home in Spring, Feb. 25, 1950; aged 70 y. 5 m. 17 d. He had been in poor health for several years; death followed an eight-week illness. He was a lifelong resident of Springs, Pa. In early youth he accepted Christ as his Saviour and was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church throughout life, having served as Sunday-school superintendent for several years, as superintendent for more than forty years, as superintendent of the Laughlin Mission Sunday School for about twenty-two years, and as church treasurer for about twenty years. On Dec. 25, 1904, he was married to Mayme A. Kimmel, of Rockwood, Pa., who was taken in death in January, 1946. An infant son, his parents, 2 brothers, and a sister also preceded him in death. Surviving are 7 children (Herbert, Elizabethtown, Pa.; Paul, Montgomery, Ind.; Alma, Claude, and Freda, at home; Josh, Fort Hill, Pa.; Etta-Mrs. Allen Swartzendruber, Pigeon, Mich.), 18 grandchildren, 2 brothers (Harry, Scottdale, Pa.; Homer, Springs, Pa.), and a sister (Orpha, Grantsville, Md.). "Max M. Maust - A heat attack suffered while driving in the 1500 block of West 5th St. brought death Wednesday afternoon to Max M. Maust, 47, of 1001 Hawthorne avenue. Head of the printing department at the Rath Packing Co., Maust was driving to the home of a daughter, Mrs. L.J. Hansen, 405 1/2 Bayard street, when he was stricken about 5:30 p.m.
His car stopped when it struck a car owned by Glenn Miller, of 1528 West 5th street. Mrs. Miller said that Maust died immediately after her arrival at the car.
His wife, visiting in Des Moines, returned to Waterloo Wednesday night.
Max M. Maust was born Nov. 23, 1898, in Orange township, the son of William and Maggie Maust. He attended Orange school, and was a member of the Orange Church of the Brethren as a boy.
On May 7, 1921, he married Mae Gibson, of Shell Rock, Ia. He had worked at Rath's for 19 years. Recently he became a member of the First Brethren Church in Waterloo.
Surviving besides his wife and daughter are his mother, Mrs. Maggie Maust, 616 Rhey street; a son, Charles William, 402 Sunnyside avenue; two brothers, Kenneth, 223 Falls Avenue, and Lloyd R., Cando, N.D.; two sisters, Mrs. A.M. Summy, 616 Rhey street, and Mrs. Murry Pedersen, Alta, Ia.; and one granddaughter.
His father preceded him in death in 1939.
The body was taken to the Locke funeral home."

"Maust. - Sister Mary, wife of Jacob Maust, was born Aug. 15, 1856; died at her home near Berlin, Pa., April 18, 1917; aged 61 y. 8 m. 3 d. Sister Maust suffered greatly throughout the winter, being afflicted with cancer. She was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church. Eight sons and daughters remain to mourn the loss of mother. "Maust-Maust. Harvey N., son of Noah J. and Anna (Yoder) Maust, was born Nov. 15, 1896; died after a short illness, June 21, 1963; aged 66 y. 7 m. 6 d. His wife, Verna M., daughter of Jonas B. and Barbara (Swartzentruber) Miller, followed him in death Aug. 25, 1963, after a long illness. On March 1, 1923, they were married and were separated by death for only 2 months. Surviving are one son and 5 daughters (Emma, Iva-Mrs. Alva S. Yoder, Annie-Mrs. Wilbur Beitzel, Elmer, Arline, and Edna) and 20 grandchildren. One son preceded them in death. Surviving him are 5 sisters and 2 brothers (Savilla-Mrs. Milton E. Bender, Arminta-Mrs. Edwin Beitzel, Nannie, Vernie-Mrs. Raymond Beitzel, Edna-Mrs. Roy Beitzel, Ernest, and Asa). One infant sister preceded him in death. Surviving her are 9 brothers and sisters (Alma-Mrs. Allen Maust, Evan, Annie-Mrs. Lee Scheffel, Mabel-Mrs. Ervin J. Yoder, Edna-Mrs. Alvin Maust, Catharine, Ivan, Harvey, and Rhoda-Mrs. Elmer L. "Maust, Harry L., Sr., son of Simon L. and Savilla (Folk) Maust, was born at Springs, Pa., Sept. 3, 1893; died Nov. 10, 1954, of a heart attack while hunting in the woods near his home; aged 61 y. 3 m. 5 d. On Aug. 29, 1915, he was married to Mary Jane Cutrell, who survives him. He is also survived by 5 children (Marshall, Scottdale, Pa.; Flora-Mrs. Victor McIntire, Karval, Colo.; Harry, Jr., Laura, and James, all of Scottdale), 5 grandchildren, one sister (Mrs. Steward Rodamer) and one brother (Homer), both of Springs. Two daughters and one son preceded him in death. He was a member of the Mennonite Church for many years. Funeral services were held at the Scottdale Mennonite Church on Saturday evening, Nov. 13, were in charge of John L. Horst and A. J. Metzler, and at the Springs Mennonite Church, Springs, Pa., by John L. Horst and Roy Otto. Interment was made in the cemetery near the Springs Church."
