"LONGENECKER On the 29th of May, in Wilmot Ohio, A. S. Longenecker, aged 42 years and 10 days. He had been afflicted nearly eight years and during the latter time was entirely disabled from following his advocation. He became a christian in early life, and was consistent in his profession, kind and affectionate as a friend, and tender and loving as a father. Some of his dying remarks were comforting testimonies of peace with God. He said: "Jesus will give me his right hand to help me across the river." "I wish Jesus would take me right now." "Mother you must not cry about this; you must rejoice, you must say: Praise the Lord." "When I get into misery the best thing I can do is, to throw my whole weight on Jesus." Funeral services were held in the M. E. Church in Wilmot, where in accordance with his request an appropriate song entitled: "Bury me near the old home," was sung. He was buried at the Longenecker Church where now eight of the family repose. He leaves a wife and one daughter to mourn his death."

"ROHRER - Addie Longnecker Rohrer was born in Ohio Oct.4, 1845; died in Niles, Mich., June 26, 1923; aged 78y. 8m. 22d. When but a young woman she was married to Peter Longnecker, thus not changing her name, April 25, 1869, to whom were born 7 children. Following Mr. Longnecker's death she was married to Jacob T. Rohrer who also precede her in death Feb. 5, 1921. In her early years she gave her heart to God and united with the Methodist Church remaining in said faithful until death. She is survived by 2 sons Harvey Longnecker, of Saline City, Ind., and Charles Longnecker of Niles, Mich., besides 2 sisters and 8 grandchildren. Her body was brought to the Olive Church, north of Wakarusa, Ind., where services were held, conducted by Bro. Silas Weldy from the text Mal. 3:6. Burial in the adjoining cemetery. Hers was a life of continual conflict and trial and we hope she has entered that rest prepared for those who love the Lord."

"On the 15th of March, in St. Joseph Co., Ind., Samuel Longenecker, aged 39 years, 4 months and 23 days. He was buried on the 17th. A funeral sermon was preached by the writer from Isaiah 38: 1. He leaves a wife, four children and an aged father to mourn his departure. Bro. Longenecker lived, apparently, regardless of a Savior's love, until brought low by the hand of disease, when, in view of the probable near approach of death, he was led seriously to consider the welfare of his soul. I was called to his bedside a week previous to his death, and as I beheld his almost helpless form, which had long been preyed upon by the tortures of a lingering disease, the deepest sympathies for himself and the loved ones around him were at once called forth. "Sing and pray for me," was his first request. After this was done, I inquired as to the state and feeling of his mind. He acknowledged himself to be in a lost and perishing condition. I pointed him to the Savior who came into the world to "seek and to save that which was lost." It was encouraging to hear him make an acknowledgement of his sin and guilt before his God and Savior, in tones of deepest lamentation and sorrow. Said he "If I had my time to live over again, I would spend it in a different way." Upon his earnest request he was baptized upon his confession of faith in Christ as his only hope of salvation. He was made to rejoice, as he doubtless never rejoiced before, in the pardon of sin and the triumphs of a living faith. Manifestly did he receive the evidence of his peace and acceptance with God. It was my privilege to visit him a second time, two days before his death. He at once recognized me, and though his physical powers were fast failing, his mind was still, clear, and he was perfectly composed and resigned to his heavenly Fathers will."
