"Hostetler. - Andrew J., son of Moses J. and Elizabeth Hostetler, was born in Holmes Co., Ohio, Aug. 18, 1858; died at his home near Middlebury, Ind., Nov. 24, 1925; aged 67 y. 3 m. 6 d. He came with his parents from Ohio at the age of six and settled near Emma, Ind., where he lived until 1890, then moved near Middlebury where he spent the remainder of his life. On July 30, 1885, he was united in marriage to Anna A. Schrock. To this union were born two children (Cora and Charles). His first wife died Feb. 20, 1891. On Dec. 27, 1891, he was married to Rebecca Hostetler. To this union were born two children (LeRoy and a daughter who died in infancy). He united with the Mennonite Church in his younger years and in ---- was ordained to the ministry and there served a faithful life until death called him. He leaves his wife, two sons (Charles and LeRoy), six grandchildren, four brothers (Eli, Uriah, Jacob, and Henry), also many other relatives and friends. Funeral services at Mennonite Church, Middlebury, Ind., Nov. 27, where a very large and sympathizing audience assembled. Services by Silas Yoder, Earl Miller, and D. D. Miller."

"Hostetler ­ Elias M., son of Moses J. and Elizabeth Hostetler, was born in Holmes Co., Ohio, Oct. 3, 1842; died at his home near Topeka, Ind., Feb. 26, 1932; aged 89 y. 4 m. 22 d. In 1866 he was married to Lydia, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Schrock, she having died on Dec. 12, 1887. To this union were born the following children: Adam E., Eva Burkholder, Rudy E., Joh, Libbie Mishler, Alma, Silvia Mehl who lives in the home of the now deceased. On March 15, 1889, he was married to Elizabeth Miller who now survives, though being afflicted for a number years. His life cam to a sudden end while having gone outside of the house after some coal for his heating stove. A short time later he was found by his two daughters, lifeless. In his departure he leaves his sorrowing companion, 1 son, 2 daughters, 1 brother (J. J. Hostetler), 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. In his early life he united with the Mennonite Church and continued in this faith unto his death. Though suffering sickness in the home for a number of years, his interest and attendance at church services was always appreciated. In the community he was always looked to as a man having good judgment, practicing patience and a good attitude toward all, having lived at his late home for 61 years. Funeral services were held at the Mennonite Church at Emma, in charge of the home ministers, M. J. Yoder and O. S. Hostetler."

"Hostetler. - John M. Hostetler was born April 16, 1839, near Summit Mills, Somerset Co., Pa.; died at his home near Emma, Ind., (where he resided continuously for about 46 years) July 8, 1914; aged 75 y. 2 m. 22 d. He was married to Susan Hostetler of Holmes Co., Ohio. He was the father of 13 children, by two marriages. His first wife died Jan. 11, 1879. This union was blest with 7 children, Mrs. Lucy Hershberger, Mrs. Carrie Yoder, Ira J., Noah J., Abram L., and a pair of twins who died in infancy. July 22, 1879, he was married to Barbara Sunthimer. To this union were born 6 children, Mrs. Phenas Weaver, Allen J., Fred M., Mrs. Katie Bontrager, Mrs. Ezra Slabach, all of whom are living. He leaves to mourn, wife, 11 children, 32 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, besides a host of relatives and friends. He united with the Amish Church in his youth and has always been a faithful and consistent member. June 27, 1876, he was ordained to the ministry and was faithful and active in discharging his duties as his health permitted. Services at the Emma Church by J. J. Troyer in German from Psa. 23, and Y. C. Miller in English from II Tim. 4:6-8."

"MILLER -On the 15th of January, in LaGrange county, Indiana, of cancer and consumption, Sister Polly, wife of John C. Miller, aged 36 years, 11 months and 13 days. Some time before her death, after being very low and not expected to recover, she told her husband that she had seen her two sisters, who preceded her. They came with a smile on their faces, and shook hands with her. She also admonished her husband that he should lead a faithful Christian life and bring up the remaining children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. She was a member of the Amish Mennonite church and mother of six children, four sons and two daughters, three of which preceded her, leaving a husband with two sons and a daughter to mourn their loss. She was buried in Pre. C. Miller's graveyard, followed by many friends and relatives. Services by J.J. Weaver and Joseph D. Miller."

"HOSTETLER.-Moses J. Hostetler was born in Somerset county, Penna., June 9, 1812. He was one of eleven children born to John and Magdalena Hochstetler, and with his parents came to Ohio. After a lapse of two years he returned to Pennsylvania and was married, January 7, 1838, to Elizabeth Mast. After residing three years in Pennsylvania he moved to Holmes Co., Ohio. Here he resided twenty-three years, and 1864 moved to Lagrange Co., Ind. where he lived until his death, April 17, 1894. He lived in the marriage relation fifty-one years when he was separated by the death of his companion, August 9, 1889. The deceased has been a member of the Amish church since 1838, living a faithful and exemplary Christian life until his death. He left a bright testimony, a few days before his death, of the assurance of an eternal home in heaven.
He is the father of thirteen children, ten sons and three daughters, four of which, one son and three daughters, have preceded him to the spirit world. He has seventy-three grand-children, fifty-two are still living, and has thirty-nine great-grandchildren, four of whom are dead, making an offspring of 125 souls.
Funeral services wee held at the old home on April 19. Preachers Eli Borntrager, and David Kauffman of Lagrange Co. and preacher Yoder of Nebraska conducted the services from John 5:19-31, 1 Cor. 15:20-58 and 1 Thes. 4:13-18. His remains were laid at rest in the Yoder cemetery. J.J.H."

"Hostetler.-Paul J. Hostetler was born in Holmes Co., O., Nov. 25, 1849; died of diabetes at his home in Lagrange Co., Ind., Jan. 25, 1911; aged 63 y. 2 m. When a boy of 15 he moved with his parents from Ohio to Indiana, where he lived till his death. At the age of 22 he united with the A. M. Church at the Forks Church and later for convenience in attendance with the Mennonite Church at Emma. He remained a faithful member of the same until death. In 1870 he was united in marriage with Esther Miller. To this union were born 10 children 4 of whom preceded him to the home above. He leaves to mourn his departure a loving companion, 6 sons, 11 grandchildren, 7 brothers and many friends and neighbors. Bro. Hostetler had been in ill health for some time, but was confined to his bed only from the 23rd. During the interval he could not speak any more. He is missed in the home where he was a loving husband and a kind father, in the Church where he was a faithful brother and in the community where he was a helpful neighbor. Funeral was held at the Emma Church where a very large number of friends had assembled to show the last tribute of respect to the departed. Services were conducted at the home by John Garber in English and by Amos Cripe in German. Text, II Tim. 4:6, 7. Followed by Samuel Weaver. Text, Rev. 14:13."

Hostetler, at Emma, Ind.; aged 78 y. 7 m. 15 d. He was united in marriage to Catharine Mehl May 19, 1863. To this union were born six daughters and three sons. His companion preceded him in death only 4 m. and 23 d.; also two sons in their infancy. He leaves six daughters (Mesdames Benjamin Bontrager, Adam Baker, Moses A. Yoder, M. A. Farver, D. D. Miller, John Troyer) and one son (O. S. Hostetler) with whom he had been living for 25 years; also 47 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren besides many relatives and friends. He became a member of the Mennonite Church in his early life, to which faith he remained true and faithful until his death, ever desirous of establishing the same principles in the lives of those of his family and friends. Funeral services at the Emma Church by Y. C. Miller and D. J. Johns. Buried in the Yoder Cemetery."
