"Ernest L. Fritz, 70, of Somerset RD 2, formerly of East Main Street, died Sept. 6, 1995, in Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C. Born Sept. 2, 1925, in Stoneycreek Township, Somerset County, son of the late Albert J. and Myrtie (Weigle) Fritz. Survived by his wife, Kathleen (Larson) Fritz. His death ends a marriage union of 38 years. Also survived by two children: Larry Fritz of Plymouth, Mich., and Peggy Dubay of Westland, Mich.; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church. A well known area antique dealer. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Service at 2 p.m. Sunday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Pastor Robert L. Hoover, Jr. officiating. Interment, Mizpah Cemetery. Body will lie in state in the church from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Heart Fund."

"Eva M. Weigle, 73, Friedens RD 2, died April 13, 1983, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born Sept. 24, 1909, in Somerset Township, a daughter of Harvey and Laura (Ragman) Fritz. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Albert; and sister, Ada Mostoller. Survived by husband, Nevin S., whom she married Nov. 24, 1929. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Remains will be removed to Faith Lutheran Church to lie in state from 9 a.m. until services at 10 a.m. on Saturday, with the Rev. Charles J. Hartbauer officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park."

"Maust. - Savilla, daughter of the late John and Matilda (Hershberger) Folk, was born at Springs, Pa., Nov. 21, 1858; and died at her home Aug. 16, 1942; aged 83 y. 8 m. 25 d. On Dec. 15, 1878 she was united in marriage to Simon L. Maust. They shared the joys and sorrows of home life a little over 55 years, when Grandpa was called to his eternal home. Grandma lived her entire life in the Springs community. For the past several years one of her grandsons made his home with her. She was in fairly good health for one her age, and on Saturday evening had studied her S. S. lesson, preparatory to attending Sunday school and church services the following day. When she did not arise at her usual time, she was called but did not answer. Then it was discovered that sometime during the night her soul had quietly slipped away to be with God. It seems that she never awoke from the sleep that came to her when she retired. She looked well to the ways of her household. On her tongue was the law of kindness, she worked willingly with her hands, and her children (grandchildren too) could arise and call her blessed. She was highly esteemed in the home, Church, and community, where she will be greatly missed. In these sunset years of life she often longed for heaven, where her husband, 2 sons, 1 daughter, and 5 grandchildren were awaiting her coming. She was also preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, and 5 sisters. Surviving are 3 sons and 1 daughter (Norman S. and F. Homer of Springs, Harry L. of Scottdale, and Mrs. Orpha Rodamer of Grantsville, Md.), also 17 grandchildren, 17 greatgrandchildren, and 3 brothers (Milton of Fredonia, Pa., Wilson and Christian of near Grantsville, Md.), besides many other relatives. She became a member of the Springs Mennonite Church in early womanhood, and remained a faithful member. She was always interested in her church and its activities, attending every meeting she possibly could. The services at the home were conducted by Bro. Newton Weber, and further services at the Springs Church were in charge of Bro. Roy Kinsinger and Bro. Weber. Text, Job 5:26. A large concourse of friends and relatives gathered to pay their respect to one who was loved by everyone. Her body was laid to rest in the adjoining church cemetery. A Granddaughter."

"Helen F. Boose, 98, of Meyersdale Manor, formerly of Somerset, passed on June 17, 2001, at the manor. Born Sept. 11, 1902, in Summit Township, daughter of the late Milton and Emma (Vought) Fike. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Ellis C. Boose and sisters, Viola Grace Conn, Mary Peck, Edith Lucille Bloom and Margaret Fike. Survived by nieces, Anna Peck of Pascagoula, Miss., and Audrey Slagle of Ridley Park, and nephew; John C. Peck of Fort Hill. She was a retired administrative aide and a member of the Somerset Church of the Brethren. She was also a member of the First Society of Farm Women. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday. Revs. Mark Bendes and Roger Forry officiating. Interment, Union Cemetery, Meyersdale. Memorial contributions may be made to the Somerset Church of the Brethren, 303 South Center Ave., Somerset, Pa., 15501."
